14.02.2010.

On the
occasion of Saint Trifun Day, celebrated by the Center for viticulture
and winemaking, the authorities of Palilula Municipality visited this
distinguished institution. Like the tradition has been for years, in the
presence of priests and many guests the cutting of grape vine tree was
completed, cutting of Saint day cake but also the discussion about the
programme of the Center took place. The president of Assembly, Milan
Djurdjevic, general secretary Vesna Jovanovic-Jankovic, head of
administration Boban Ilic, municipal councilors Milos Stojkovic and
Boban Mikic visited the wine cellar and lab of the Center and then in
the vineyard of the Centre were also present when grape vine tree was
being traditionally cut.
`We
expect that outturns of winemaking in our Region this year will be
better` – emphasized Milos Ristic, director of the Center for
viticulture and winemaking. `During the last years, the whole Nis
vineyards have been in danger with photoplasma – provoker of the disease
of so called golden yellow and red colour of grape vine tree leaves -
Flavescence dorée.
Infected grape vine parts are taken away and destroyed and new seedlings
are put, which disturb us in the process of increasing production`.
At the
territory of Palilula Municipality there are 15 villages that refer to
narrow urban part. Regarding the type of their geographic position, type
of soil, climate factors and tradition, these villages have good basis
for organized and highly produced agricultural production. Rape vine
tree growing has long tradition in these areas. About 355 hectares of
arable soil are under vine tree in Palilula. T`his cooperation with the
Center is very important`, emphasized the representatives of Municipal
authorities. On this occasion this Center was visited also by delegation
of `High agricultural food school of professional studies` headed with
PhD Ljubisa Jovanovic, director of this educational institution.
